SSEF Course Development
SSEF and CISC understand that it is important for designers to keep up to date with current trends, practices, codes and standards. CISC and its members sponsor series of courses that are offered at venues across Canada.
SSEF has funded course note development on steel structures. In recent years, topics have included bridges, bolting and welding, commercial buildings and seismic design. The notes are produced in both English and French, and are included as part of a series of short courses which are given by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction. Here is a list of courses for which material was developed with the financial support of SSEF since 2002:
Future course material development includes:
- Design of connections in steel Seismic Force Resisting Systems (1-day)
- Connection Design I and II for Steel Industry Personnel (40-50 hrs, webinars)
- Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel, Coatings, Fire Protection and Systems Integration for Canadian Architects (1/2 day)

Design notes developed by SSEF have helped thousands of engineers design better structures.
